Winter 2020 Horse Camp

Give your child an unforgettable experience during their 2020 Winter Break. This is an amazing & educational experience for your child in a horse-filled environment. Our goal is to safely educate your children about horses! WCM winter camp is TWO (2) 4-day weeks of FUN!

Due to COVID-19, we have strict precautions in place to limit interaction and contact. We are able to spread out as necessary and conduct camp according to social distancing guidelines. Everyone's best interests and care are our top priority, and we have taken many extra steps to maintain the highest social distancing and disinfection standards possible.

CAMPERS will have their temperature checked upon arrival.

West Coast Morgans (WCM) follows recommendations by the CDS and local government. From the onset of quarantine, we immediately instituted rules to minimize foot traffic and keep clients outside and far away from others. WCM continues to monitor health guidelines and maintain the highest in standards possible.  WCM is proud to offer large expanses of open areas, and we are equipped and staffed to make horse camp fun and as protected as possible!

 Social Distancing:

• Campers will be split into small groups of less then 6, more likely 3-4 per pod group.
• Our Winter Horse Camp class sizes will be limited to 12 campers at the farm at any time, and split into pod groups. 
• Campers will be in expansive fresh air common areas, and not in horses' stalls or indoor classroom environment. 
• WCM has a large covered arena, and many covered areas and tents to stay cool and shaded out of the sun, as well as open air areas.
• Campers will be checked in and escorted outside the barn aisle to the drop belongings in assigned area, and then start the camp day. 
• At pick-up, parents will arrive, staff will radio for each camper and he/she will be escorted to the parent or vehicle in carline.
• Campers will have their temperatures checked upon arrival. Any camper with a fever will not be allowed to enter the WCM facility and will be sent home. The camp day will be rescheduled.
• Family members are permitted to watch from a distance with an appointment. Family can watch from the car, stand and watch, or bring a lawn chair and watch outside of the arenas. 

 Health and Sanitation:

• Our facility is sprayed and disinfected overhead 8-10x a day, with additional sanitizing of commonly handled areas during the day.
• Disinfection protocols instituted by WCM Staff Registered Nurse.
• All materials and common areas (e.g., bathrooms) are sanitized before after each use, and additionally throughout the day. Campers will be escorted to the restroom to ensure sanitization before and after use.
• All campers will need to bring his/her own lunch, snack, and sunscreen. 
• Each camper will have his/her own assigned place to sit 6’ apart from another for any seated activity (crafts or lunch).
• Campers will be separated for all activities, and snacks/lunch (family groups may sit together). 
• Personal items will be stored away from each other, to avoid contamination.
• All WCM Staff have masks for being in close proximity to campers, or other guests.
• Campers MUST bring his/her own mask, we will supply generic mask when necessary.
• Campers will be provided with the supplies needed for the day’s craft activities, any shared supplies will be disinfected before and after use.
• Staff and campers that are not feeling well, will be excused from coming to WCM, and will be rescheduled accordingly. 
• Disinfection protocols include commercial hand sanitizer and alcohol-based sprays to hospital-grade disinfectants. 

Tips for parents:

• Send your child with a backpack with all camp necessities and personal hand sanitizer. 
• Send your child in riding attire, if boots are uncomfortable for all day wear, bring a set of sneakers to change in and out of accordingly.
  
• Teach your child how to wash hands well with soap for 30 seconds (sing “Happy Birthday” song).

Camp starts promptly at 9:30 each day, and ends at 4:00. Camp weeks are listed below: 

Week 1: Monday, 12/21/2020 to Thursday 12/24/2020 (EXCLUDING FRIDAY 12/25/2020)

Week 2: Monday, 12/28/2020 to Thursday 12/31/2020 (EXCLUDES FRIDAY 1/1/2021)

Tickets for each week are purchased per week, in full or half day sessions, as seen below. You may also purchase individual full or half days. We are here to suit YOUR schedule!

Drop off/pick up 30 minutes before (between 9:00-9:30 and after (4:00-4:30) camp sessions

Early drop-off options must be arranged in advance. Cash payment is made directly each day to staff member assigned to care for the camper. See daily cost below.

Cost based on drop off time:

8:30am - 9:00am = $10

8:00am - 8:30am = $15

7:30am - 8:00am = $20

7:00am - 7:30am = $25

Half Day Times: 9:30 am to 12:30 pm OR 1:00pm to 4:00pm.

AM Session campers are welcome to stay and eat lunch with us. PM Session Campers are welcome to come early at noon and eat with us.

Late pick-up (after 4:30 pm) is arranged on individual basis in advance. Please email [email protected] or speak with a camp leader to pre-arrange what you need.
